Keynote Speaker
Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Grant Goodall. Dr. Goodall received his graduate training from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He is currently Professor of Linguistics at UCSD. Goodall's primary area of specialty is natural language syntax, with an established interest in applying linguistic research to the public realm, especially with regards to language teaching policy and practice. His current research projects include Wh-movement and inversion phenomena, processing effects in syntax, and experimental methods for studying syntax. Before joining the faculty at UCSD, he worked at the University of Texas at El Paso and held visiting appointments at the Université de Genève (Switzerland) and the Universidad Nacional del Comahue (Argentina).
Details for Presenters & Attendees
Driving?
If you will be driving and plan to park on campus during the conference, you will need a temporary parking permit. Please let us know about your situation as soon as possible. Parking permits will be prepared for the registered attendees free of charge if we know ahead of time.
Need a hotel?
We recommend the Wingate Inn, which provides shuttles service between the airport and to the university. If you make your reservation at the Wingate, please specify that you are attending a university-sponsored event and ask for the UTA rate ($85/night). Another hotel you might consider is the Parkway Inn (817-860-2323), which is conveniently located within walking distance of the university. You may make your reservations by contacting the hotel directly.
Finding Your Way Here
The closest airport to UTA is Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). It is 20-30 minutes by car between DFW and UT Arlington. Be sure you're flying to the right airport if you need to come by airplane.
