Welcome to Joshua Jensen's page on the Linguistics site of the University of Texas at Arlington. Here you can see information about the classes I'm teaching, read my curriculum vitae, find out a little bit about me, and peruse some linguistics links.
ESOL 4301 students
In the spring 2008 semester, I'm teaching ESOL 4301, Academic Presentation Skills. If you're looking for the syllabus or other information, go to the classes page.
Adoption language
My ACES PowerPoint presentation is available here in PPT 2007 format. The handout from the presentation is here as a PDF.
Linked here is a copy of my Adoption Language Handout from Pragmatics class. My paper (here) ended up focusing on the word "birthmother". I'm planning to prepare a follow-up paper with more analysis of how connotation arises in certain classes of compound nominals.
The writing at the top
The symbols at the top are how my name, "Josh", is written in IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet). Down at the bottom you can see my first and last names, "Josh Jensen", also in phonetic transcription.
