Student Advising:
Financial Aid
Although not all students are guaranteed financial aid, several options are available through the University and the Department of Linguistics & TESOL.
If you're applying to the Linguistics PhD program (not already a student in the program) and wish to be considered for financial aid, your application must be submitted to the Graduate School on or before the last day of January.
Fellowships, Scholarships, & Loans (non-Departmental)
The UT Arlington Graduate School's page for prospective students has several links for fellowship, scholarship, and loan opportunities. Look under the the heading "Financial Aid Resources."
Fellowships and Assistantships (LING & TESOL Department)
A limited number of fellowships and graduate teaching and research assistantships (GTAships & GRAships) are available each academic year. If you are a continuing student in a Linguistics & TESOL graduate program and wish to apply for funding, you should download the Application for Continuing Student Support (Word doc) and submit it before March 9, 2009.
(New students seeking support should email linguistics@uta.edu to inquire about funding.)
The UT Arlington Department of Linguistics & TESOL makes Graduate Dean Fellowship Awards available on a competitive basis to incoming Ph.D. students (currently funded by the Graduate School for $2000/yr for four years).
Assistantships are generally awarded to Doctoral students only. GTAs teach primarily undergraduate linguistics classes. GRAs are assigned to assist a particular faculty member for a set number of hours per week.
